Today we are to remmember British and American English.
Try to do and to learn by heart following words and collocations.

1. Распределите следующие слова на две группы (Британский и Американский), обращая внимание на написание слов.

favorite – favourite, apologize – apologise, labour – labor, catalogue – catalog, theatre – theater, counselor – counsellor, license – licence, color – colour, hypnotise – hypnotize, center – centre, programme – program, specialize – specialise, traveller – traveler, humour – humor, archaeology – archeology, dialog – dialogue, defence – defense, neighbour – neighbor, kilometre — kilometer.

2. Распределите слова на две группы (Британский и Американский).

3. Прочитайте текст об английской девушке Мэри. Напишите аналогичный рассказ об американской девушке Норе, заменив британские выражения их американскими эквивалентами.

Mary lives in a big flat. Every morning she gets up at ten past six and puts on a blouse and a pair of trousers. Mary has a little son, so she has to change his nappy. Then she drinks her coffee with a biscuit and checks her post. Mary works in the city centre, so she takes the underground to get there. Her office is on the ground floor, so she doesn’t use the lift. Mary goes shopping after work. She buys a lot of stuff, so she drives her trolley to the car and puts all the bags into the boot. In the evening when Mary gets home she takes out the rubbish and then she just walks along the pavement. She usually watches some nice film before going to bed.
