Third Conditional или Условные предложения третьего типа в английском языке используются для описания воображаемых, нереальных ситуаций, событий или действий в прошлом. Также Conditionals 3 применяется при выражении сожаления или критики, касательно действий или бездействия в прошлом.

The third conditional describes a hypothetical unreal situation in the past.

We are imagining the result of something that did not happen. We are imagining a different past.

The condition takes the past perfect tense.

The structure of the result part of the sentence is: 

subject + would have + the past participle form of the verb. 

«would» is a type of modal. We can use other modals in the third conditional, such as «might» and «could».
